The  PARPÚBLICA - Participações Públicas, SGPS, SA is a Management Company Shareholdings (SGPS) wholly publicly owned, governed by established in Decree-Law No. 209/2000, of 2 September , constituting an instrument of the state to act in the following domains:

• Management of holdings in companies undergoing privatization or term privatization;
• Development of privatization processes, within the framework determined by the Government;
• Restructuring of companies transferred to its portfolio for this purpose;
• Monitoring of holdings in privatized companies that grant special rights to the State;
• Management of surplus public real estate assets, through specialized object subsidiary companies;
• Support for the exercise, by the Minister of Finance, of financial supervision over State companies and concessionaires of services of general economic interest;

The missions committed to PARPÚBLICA by the diploma that constituted it are carried out either through the mechanisms of a SGPS, that is, through its portfolio of shares, or through the provision of services to the Ministry of Finance.
